Rapid Access Team,
I’m pleased to announce the launch of our new Stop Work Authority initiative effective immediately. This initiative aims to empower all employees to intervene when they observe work that poses a potential safety hazard or violates a procedure.
Rationale:
The Stop Work Authority Card demonstrates our commitment to a strong culture of safety and compliance where every employee is responsible and authorised to intervene when necessary. Even when a potential safety issue has been identified, stopping work can help prevent incidents and injuries. It is important to note that the Stop Work Authority Card process is not intended to discourage productivity or cause delays. Rather, it is a proactive approach to prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses in the workplace.
How it works:
All employees will be issued a Stop Work Authority pass. If an employee witnesses a potential safety hazard or procedural non-compliance, they should present their pass to the relevant workers and verbally request that work be stopped immediately.
Process:
If you have any questions regarding the implementation of the Stop Work Authority Card process or its importance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your supervisor or safety representative. Stop Work Authority cards will be distributed at next week’s Team Talk meeting.
